It is important that you choose the right product for the right application to ensure the life of your surface finish, and in some cases that your windows and doors are covered under warrranty.
Some locations such as coastal or industrial locations require a higher grade finish. Your manufacturer will be able to advise you on suitable options
Consider the palette of your home as a whole and how different colours might complement or contrast this. Darker colours tend to recede helping to frame views while lighter colours can help to open up a space. The popular colour range is a comprehensive range of 40 popular powdercoat colours that offer something to suit all styles and is a great starting point for colour selection.
Our entrance doors* and some ThermalHeart+® ranges allow dual colour, which gives you the ability to pick an internal colour and an external colour to match the look of your internal and external colour schemes.
When you are making your final colour selection, assess an aluminium colour swatch in natural light. Visit your local manufacturer to see samples or order an inspiration kit.
In addition to your colour choice, the finish type of your joinery or entrance door will help you achieve your desired look. Our powdercoat options are primarily available in a matt finish, while anodising offers a frost finish with a slight sheen to the metal. For entrance doors, you can explore high gloss, glass or even special effects that replicate metallic or woodgrain finishes.
Consider whether you’d like your hardware to be colour matched with your joinery as this may affect your choice of hardware range and finish. Urbo
and Miro hardware can be powdercoated to colour match your joinery, while the Elemental range is anodised to match an anodised joinery finish or add a contemporary touch to any joinery
Powdercoating is New Zealand’s most popular surface finish for windows and doors. It’s a baked-on coating that’s tough and comes in a wide range of colours. There are two options, each offering a 15-year film and colour integrity warranty.

This low sheen entrance door surface finish is purposely designed for high-traffic entranceways.
The look of the Protexture Powdercoat finish differs slightly to the powdercoating of your aluminium joinery. Ask your local manufacturer to see a sample of the Protexture finish.
Dual colour is available across the range, with the exception of the Slimline Plasma door. Dual colour enables you to match your interior and exterior colour schemes instead of picking one colour for both sides of the door.
Dark colours may not be suitable for doors that are exposed to prolonged direct sunlight as this may cause the colour to fade, so careful consideration needs to be made when choosing your entrance door colours.
Our powdercoat colours are proudly supplied by Dulux Powdercoatings.

Assess an aluminium colour swatch in natural light before making your final choice.
When judging colour consistency and integrity of the finished product, the accepted industry standard is inspection from a distance of two metres.
Consider the environmental and site conditions of your property and ensure that the powdercoat product you choose is fit for purpose.
Anodising is a durable and colour fast alternative to powdercoating. First offers the matt or ‘frost’ finish as standard though traditional anodising is also available.
When judging colour consistency and integrity of the anodised finish, the accepted industry standard is inspection from a distance of two metres. Some variability of colour can occur and is part of the anodising process. Visible lines in the aluminium on anodised windows and doors are common.
Anodised finishes change according to the angle at which they are viewed, ask your manufacturer for an Anodised colour swatch to view in natural light.
